Your toothbrush works hard every time you brush your teeth, and if you don’t care for your brush, it can wear quickly and it can also harbor many viruses and bacteria that can destroy your smile. Because of this, it is very important to take care of your toothbrush, and we recommend doing do by adhering to the following guidelines:

Keep your brush clean
When you are done brushing your teeth, rinse the bristles in warm, clean water and remove any toothpaste or debris that may be stuck. If you wish to deeply clean your brush, you can use toothbrush sanitizer or an ultraviolet light to kill the harmful substances that live on your brush. If you have been sick, please deeply clean your brush by soaking it in antibacterial mouthwash or by putting it through the dishwasher.

Properly store your brush
After you brush your teeth every morning and every night, store your brush in an area where it can dry, preferably where it can sit upright. It is very important that your toothbrush dries between each use. If you decide to use a toothbrush cover, please use a cover that allows air to circulate through. If the cover is completely sealed, your brush will begin to create and harbor bacteria, viruses, and mold.

Know when to get a new brush
It is generally time for a new toothbrush every 3-4 months, or when the bristles are worn down. It is also wise to toss your old brush and use a new one after you have been sick. These tips apply to both the manual and electric toothbrushes.

Never share your brush
Please do not share your brush with anyone, even your family members. If you do, bacteria and saliva transfer over and cause tooth decay.
